Cornwall under construction was evident as we walked through Hayle; regaining it’s glory lost since it’s mining heyday. The path wended, along the road with glimpses of the Hayle estuary and RSPB nature reserves. We sadly said good bye to our friend before heading for coffee at Lelant on the estuary.

Criss-crossing the shuttling branch line to St Ives, following St Michaels way (pilgrim route) across the dunes we looked back at the long sandy beach from yesterday. Heading down we passed the summit hosting Hotel at Carbis bay, and paddle boarders; a welcome break from the wind!

Another steepish path through the woods lead down to the first of St Ives lovely beaches and a celebratory drink; a third of the way.

After checking in with our wonderful hosts at the BnB we strolled the cobbled streets and harbour of St Ives. We did find an empty bench to enjoy the view from St Ives head. Strange to walk a section of the path without my pack!

Sunday is a rest day, time for a lie in, to visit the Tate and Barbara Hepworth sculpture garden and admin catch up!

Official SW Coast path: 6miles

Official running total: 230miles
