My friend kindly drove us back to Par beach, together we walked Patch over the misty headland to Polkeris before saying thank you and good bye. Walking on, the path led to Gribben head with its red and white 1832 day mark; ethereal views looking back, bright sunshine ahead! Great view from Polridmouth beach, the inspiration fir Du Maurriers Rebecca.
Pastoral landscape lead down into elegant Fowey past pretty coves and a castle to walk straight onto the foot ferry across the estuary to Polruan. Somehow as we walked the steep tiny quaint old streets I managed to miss every kiosk, shop, tearoom in both towns! Sadly I ended up on a headland bench eating snacks with water (probably better for me!)
With thunderous black clouds behind, we followed the sun past exquisite Lantic bay along the cliffs; much harder walking. We zigzagged across the moorland cliffs, back and forth up and down, past more lovely coves hugging the wilder rockier coast, performing the nettle waltz; rarely level! During one section after clambering vertically down, up, down, up, down and up again my watch decided my walk was over; insufficient forward GPs motion! Great views for those who like heights! Yes I did have a sense of humour failure! Technology restarted the uneven narrow, nettly path with vertiginous drops finally descended into the narrow streets of Polperro fishing village. The whole town nestled into the steep valley; tide out sadly. We just made it to the pub for dinner before the rain! Replenished with an excellent meal of course it was up a very steep road to our lodgings!
Official SW Coast path: 13miles
Official running total: 383miles
After technology restart!
